About

Hi, I’m Gökhan, a Software Engineer/Architect based in Istanbul since July 2010. I graduated from Beykent University with a degree in Software Engineering.

My Journey into Technology

My first encounter with computers happened when I was 6-7 years old at my uncle’s clothing shop. I was fascinated by this machine with its typewriter-like keyboard, playing classic MS-DOS games like Lotus and Delphino. That early experience sparked a curiosity that would shape my future career.

Years later, while in college, another uncle passed down a computer that had belonged to his son. The timing couldn’t have been better—I was studying computer programming and eager to practice. I spent countless hours writing simple programs for calculations and various tasks, teaching myself through experimentation.

Education

My formal education began at Çanakkale 18 Mart University, where I studied Computer Programming from 2000 to 2002. Determined to advance my career, I pursued external university exams to earn my bachelor’s degree. After fourteen years of dedication, I was accepted into Beykent University’s Software Engineering program.

Following my bachelor’s degree, I continued my academic journey at Beykent University, where I completed my Master’s degree in Computer Engineering. This advanced education allowed me to deepen my understanding of software architecture, system design, and modern development methodologies.

Professional Experience

My professional career began in 2005 in Bursa, where I worked at various software companies, gaining diverse experience in different aspects of software development. In 2010, I relocated to Istanbul to continue my career journey, seeking new opportunities and challenges in a larger tech ecosystem.

I joined Istanbul University, where I’ve been working for several years since finding my first opportunity in the city. Balancing full-time work at Istanbul University while completing my degrees at Beykent University was challenging, but it provided invaluable real-world experience alongside my academic studies. This combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application has shaped my approach to software engineering and architecture.

Throughout my career spanning nearly two decades, I’ve had the opportunity to work on various projects, from small-scale applications to enterprise-level systems, which has given me a comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle and modern architectural patterns.
